No plane, no gain

Factory Yamaha rider Colin Edwards will show dedication beyond the call of duty this week to catch a round of the American supercross series.

This week’s Sepang test is quickly followed up with the first official IRTA test in Qatar next week. Doha is only a 6-7 hour flight away from Kuala Lumpur, but Edwards is leaving Malaysia at the end of the three-day test session in Sepang to fly back to America!

So instead of a short hop to the Middle East, by the time he has returned home for just two nights and then flown back to Qatar, what could have been an easy six-hour journey has been turned into nearly 50 hours on a plane.

The madcap journey is all so he can home to watch the American super cross round at Houston in Texas on Saturday night.

Edwards, who was quickest on the first day of testing in Sepang today, said: “I got to be at the super cross. Plus all the flying means I get to catch up on some movies I want to see.”
