Edwards' car switch

Colin Edwards is ploughing some of his hard earned cash into what he hopes will be a lucrative retirement plan by forming his own supercar club in America.

The factory Yamaha rider unveiled his master plan in testing at Malaysia recently, and Colin Edwards 200mph Club Inc is due start business in a couple of months.

The exclusive club will be run in Houston, and its 12 members will get the keys to drive some of the world’s hottest and fastest cars for one week of every month. It’s similar to ex-F1 world champ Damon Hill’s P1 Club, a big earner for Hill.

“I’ve been studying it for the last five months. I know this stuff happens a lot with planes. People pay so much a month or year for time in the air. Well I wanted to do it with cars. You basically join my club for a fee, pay a monthly fee and you get to drive some incredible cars for one week of every month.

“I’m looking at 12 members so you get to drive each car twice a year. It will be like 60 days driving or something a year,”said Edwards, who has a website, 200mphclubinc.com, currently under construction.

Six of the hottest cars in the world will be offered in Edwards’ club, including a Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 430, McLaren Mercedes SLR and Porsche Carrera GT.
