Fuel no worry for Honda

Former world champion Kenny Roberts Jr reckons Honda’s new RC212V has no worries over fuel consumption with tank capacity slashed to 21 litres for 2007.

Fuel consumption has been one of the most critical areas of attention for engineers this winter, with capacity reduced from 22 litres to help improve safety on the new generation 800cc machine.

There have been a host of theories around the paddock with teams claiming rivals have not been running their bikes at full fuel capacity to set fast lap times.

Roberts Junior has completed his race simulations on-board the new KR212V and said: “I think we could go even four laps more. We don’t have to make the bike lean or anything at the moment. Honda doesn’t play those games for making the bike faster for a lap time. With Honda the rider must make the lap time.”
