Rossi backs Edwards

Valentino Rossi has backed factory Yamaha team-mate Colin Edwards to make his big MotoGP breakthrough in 2007 – because the new 800cc bikes are more like a superbike.

Double World Superbike champion Edwards will be alongside the seven-times world champion for a third successive season in 2007, and Rossi is hoping that he won’t be a long Yamaha presence at the front of races next season.

“Colin is fast and speaking with him he likes the 800 and it’s more similar to a superbike. 

“It’s possible to go softer and the bike is gentler with the rider and feels more comfortable,” said Rossi.
