Valencia MotoGP: Hector Faubel takes provisional pole for final 125 race of the season

Hector Faubel jumped to the top of the timesheets in the dying second of the first qualifying practice in Valencia this afternoon to take provisional pole for the last 125 race of the season.

The Aprilia rider led early on after recording a 1:41.522 on his second lap out on the Spanish track before Gabor Talmacsi went top with a 1:40.648.

And so the battle continued between the Aprilia pair as Hector Faubel was back in the lead on his fourth lap with a 1:40.567. 

Home rider Faubel improved with a 1:40.490 after 11 minutes before Gabor Talmacsi moved back to the top of the timesheets just at the half way mark with a 1:39.874. He was to be the first rider to dip under the 1min 40sec mark.

Hector Faubel took a brief trip to the gravel trap with just over nine minutes remaining but was able to get going again.

Gabor Talmacsi improved his time with just a minute to go with a 1:39.644.

Hector Faubel knocked Talmacsi off the top of the timesheets with his final lap in the dying seconds with his 1:39.498.

Honda rider Bradley Smith finished the session in 15th place with a best time of 1:41.054. He had been sitting in 10th place for some time on 1:41.684 after 12 minutes.

Britain’s Danny Webb’s 1:43.641 early on saw him in 11th. He finished the session in 26th place with a better time of 1:42.467.
