Heavy rain has interrupted day one of the three day MotoGP test in Sepang.

LCR Honda’s Randy de Puniet set the fastest time of the day with a 2:03.033. He was also the fastest rider in the opening practice session at the Malaysian MotoGP last month with Kawasaki.

Suzuki’s Chris Vermeulen was second fastest after day one with a best lap of 2:03.357 with Colin Edwards third with his new Tech 3 Yamaha team.

Britain’s James Toseland finished his first day on the Tech 3 Yamaha in 10th with a best lap of 2:05.438. He crashed out of the test on his Yamaha YZR-M1 but was unhurt.
