Qatar MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo plays down Qatar hopes

Jorge Lorenzo has again played down his hopes of playing a starring role in Sunday’s historic night race in Qatar.

The double world 250 champion raised expectations when he finished last week’s floodlit IRTA test with the fastest time.

But the factory Yamaha rider is refusing to get carried away and told MCN: “The test was good because it was the first time that I have done well on this bike for two days on the trot.

“Normally I am fast one day and then not so fast the next, so that was positive. But I am not going to get carried away.

One step higher than everybody else is Casey (Stoner) and my main goal is to learn how to fight with the other riders in a race. Some riders will be much faster than they were in the test and and some riders that were fast will be slower.

“We just have to wait and see.”
