Sete Gibernau unsure of 2009 prospects

Returning Spaniard Sete Gibernau says he has no idea where he will finish in next year’s MotoGP world championship.

Gibernau started plotting his shock return to premier class racing last month in Valencia when he made his debut for the Onde 2000 Ducati squad.

The nine-times MotoGP winner, who pushed Valentino Rossi close in the title fight in 2003 and ’04, is stepping out of retirement next season having quit in 2006.

He told MCN: “When I retired I knew my level and I thought I could win races and fight for the world championship. Now I’m coming back I don’ know where my level is. I don’t know where I can finish or where my position is.

“I don’t know my level and I know the other guys have increased their level, so where am I now? It’s part of the intrigue and challenge to know what I can do now.”
