Suzuki rider Loris Capirossi will fly to Japan for vital wind tunnel testing on the 2009 factory GSV-R machine next week.

The veteran Italian will spend a day in Suzuki’s wind tunnel before he flies down to Phillip Island for a three-day test session in Australia to end his 2008 campaign.

Capirossi, who claimed only one podium finish last season, told MCN: “I have to go into the wind tunnel in Japan before the next test in Phillip Island because I asked Suzuki for a couple of things.

“I want a little bit different shape for the seat and fuel tank to be more comfortable. Suzuki has done this so I’ll go in the wind tunnel to check.”

The modifications are to move Capirossi’s body position on the V4 machine and he added: “On the bike right now the seat is quite big and I am not that comfortable when I ride.

“I want a narrower and lower fuel tank to have more control. I tested different footpegs and handlebars too recently in Valencia and it feels better. We moved the footpegs up and we changed the handlebars so they were closer to me.”

Capirossi will be in the wind tunnel on Wednesday, November 19.
