Just hours after clinching his eighth world title in today’s Japanese GP, Valentino Rossi will kick off early preparations for his 2009 MotoGP assault at the Twin Ring Motegi on Monday.

The Italian is poised is to complete a handful of laps on Yamaha’s prototype 2009 YZR-M1, and Rossi has revealed some minor details about what he will be evaluating.
The 29-year-old said: “We have the 2008.5 M1. We have two or three things interesting to try for the next model.

“It is a prototype and not the 2009 bike and the Japanese say it is interesting. It is something in acceleration for the engine to exit from the corner faster. I’m happy with the chassis so the programme is just acceleration.”
