American MotoGP legend Kenny Roberts’ departure from the paddock enabled him to spend more time indulging in his passion for golf.

And the Californian seems to have put his spare time to good use as he ended the opening day of the famous AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am PGA Tour golf championship in 10th place.

The triple world champion is playing with former British Open champion and former Ryder Cup regular Mark Calcavecchia, Roberts is the first motorcycle racer to ever play in the tournament, which dates back to the 1930’s when Bing Crosby gathered a ‘few friends’ to raise money for charity.

The tournament features some of the world’s top golf stars.

Celebrity players include actor Bill Murray and pop star Justin Timberlake.
