Edwards impressed with Bridgestone endurance

Tech 3 Yamaha rider Colin Edwards has declared himself delighted with the endurance and consistency of Bridgestone’s tyres.

The Michelin stalwart completed his first long distance run on Bridgestone rubber during the recent three-day MotoGP Sepang test session in Malaysia.

Edwards said he was impressed with the consistency of the Japanese rubber over the long run and he told MCN: “With the other brand we had two or three steps down in performance as the race wore on.

“So maybe one would be after three laps and then maybe another step down after eight laps. With the Bridgestone it seems it hangs in really strong for eight to ten laps and then it starts to spin a bit, but it is very manageable.

“You get one drop off and then it pretty much stays right there. When the tyre drops off it doesn’t seem to upset the attitude of the bike too much and you can adapt your style pretty easy to it, playing with some lean angle and using different lines.”
