Catalunya MotoGP: Gabor Talmacsi to make Honda MotoGP debut

1 of 1

Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi will make a dramatic MotoGP debut this afternoon at the start of the Catalunya MotoGP weekend in Spain.

As was first reported by MCN four weeks ago, the former world 125GP champion will ride the second Scot Honda RC212V machine next to Japanese rider Yuki Takahashi.

HRC has just given clearance for the move, with Talmacsi to make his debut in this afternoon’s opening free practice session at the Montmelo circuit.

The deal follows Talmacsi’s shock decision to walk out just three races into a two-year deal to race an Aprilia 250 with Jorge Martinez’s Balatonring squad on the eve of the French GP in Le Mans last month.

It is strongly rumoured that Talmacsi will replace Takahashi from the next race in Assen, Holland, with the Scot Honda squad struggling for funding in the current global economic crisis.

Talmacsi could bring Hungarian investment to the team to safeguard its future.
