Silverstone MotoGP set for date change?

MCN understands the date of the 2010 British MotoGP at Silverstone will be moved in a reshuffle of next year’s premier class calendar.

Although no new date has been officially released, it is understood that Silverstone has been moved from its provisional slot on June 6.

One rumoured date was that Northamptonshire circuit would stage its first MotoGP race since 1986 on June 20.

The revised 2010 calendar is expected to be unveiled tomorrow, with speculation that three European races will be run back-to-back and Brno pushed back to keep a summer  break on the schedule.

Finalising next year’s calendar has been something of a major headache for Dorna, with several key dates clashing with high profile Formula One events.

The French GP at Le Mans, scheduled for May 16, clashes with a new date for the Monaco F1 race. And with Monaco being one of the most popular F1 races, Dorna won’t go head-to-head in the TV ratings.

Another significant clash is Valentino Rossi’s home race at Misano, currently on the provisional calendar for September 12.

But that is the same day as the Monza F1 race in Italy.
