Honda closing in on new Dani Pedrosa deal

Honda held more talks with Dani Pedrosa in Germany last weekend as it looks to retain the Spaniard to partner Casey Stoner in 2011.

HRC bosses discussed the Spaniard’s future with his long-term manager and mentor Alberto Puig at the Sachsenring.

The triple world champion said he expected his future to be sorted out next month and Honda boss Livio Suppo told MCN: “We are speaking with Alberto but personally I would really like to keep Dani.

“Last year I tried to convince him to join Ducati so I truly believe that in Casey (Stoner) and Dani there is a god combination. Casey arriving gives him some new motivation but I believe it can be a super strong team.”

Australian rider Stoner’s move to Honda was confirmed before the recent German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.

Pedrosa won the German MotoGP race in convincing fashion to close the gap on Fiat Yamaha rival Jorge Lorenzo in the standings to 47-points.
