Suzuki and Tech 3 dismiss ‘ridiculous’ Loris Capirossi

Speculation that Loris Capirossi would break his Suzuki contract and take a Yamaha ride while Valentino Rossi is out injured has been dismissed as ‘ridiculous’.

When Yamaha was seeking a replacement for Rossi while he recuperates from a broken right leg, Colin Edwards was favourite to be seconded from the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad.

That prompted “ridiculous’ rumours that Capirossi had approached Tech 3 about a YZR-M1 ride until fellow Italian Rossi was fully recovered.

Suzuki team boss Paul Denning said: “Herve (Poncharal) came to see me and asked about whether I’d seen these ridiculous stories and they didn’t have any foundation or truth. I’m pretty sure there is no truth in it because Loris hasn’t spoken to us about it. We just completely ignored it because it was just idle paddock gossip mongering.”
