Scott Redding to test 1000cc BMW MotoGP bike

Rising British star Scott Redding will begin plans for a MotoGP future later this month when he tests a BMW-powered Suter machine designed for new 1000cc rules in 2012.

But it is unlikely the Gloucestershire rider will be fast tracked into the MotoGP world championship in 2012 to line up against the likes of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo before his 20th birthday.

The 17-year-old has a new two-year deal with the Marc VDS Racing squad after a series of impressive Moto2 performances in 2010 that include a stunning second place in Australia last month.

MCN has learned that Redding will test the Suter BMW machine in Jerez later this month despite some incorrect reports that he would ride after Valencia next week.

Team boss Michael Bartholemy told MCN: “Scott will get chance to do a few laps on the Suter bike in Jerez just to give him some big bike experience.

“Right now the plan is for him to race in Moto2 for the next two years but we’ll see how he develops.”
