Marc Marquez delays Moto2 switch decision

Highly-rated Spanish teenager Marc Marquez has delayed plans to switch to the Moto2 class in 2011 until he’s won or lost this year’s 125GP world championship tussle.

The 17-year-old is rapidly emerging as one of the hottest young talents in the paddock having claimed nine pole positions in 2010 and seven victories.

He won last Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix but is undecided whether to move to Moto2 next season.

The decisive factor in determining his strategy will be whether he wins the 125GP crown and the Derbi rider said: “Maybe after Phillip Island we will know more about the situation.

“But my first objective is to win this world championship. Maybe the next step is Moto2 but I don’t want to make this step too quickly. But it depends on the result of the championship.”

Marquez goes into this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang trailing series leader Nicolas Terol by just six-points.
