Sylvain Guintoli remains on standby for Pramac Ducati

Sylvain Guintoli will still attend this weekend’s German MotoGP round, despite Loris Capriossi’s intention to make a shock return from injury.

The Italian veteran looked like missing the Sachsenring race this weekend and the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca in California on July 24 with the broken ribs he suffered in a crash preparing for the Dutch TT at Assen last month.

Capirossi missed his home round at Mugello earlier this month but has declared his intention to ride in Germany, even though it looked like his place at Pramac Ducati would be taken by Guintoli.

The French rider tested the Desmosedici GP11 in Mugello and he confirmed to MCN during last weekend’s Brno World Superbike round that he will still travel to Germany and be ready to join Randy de Puniet should Capirossi have to withdraw.

Guintoli struggled back on a MotoGP bike at the recent Mugello test and finished five seconds behind 2011 MotoGP world championship leader Casey Stoner and three behind compatriot de Puniet.
