Catalunya Moto3: Late lap gives Salom pole

Luis Salom took pole today in the Moto3 class in Barcelona with a late fast lap that saw him knock Alex Rins back to second on the Iberian-dominated grid.

Portuguese rider Miguel Olivera put his Mahindra on third, spoiling the Spanish party at the Catalunya circuit, with Alex Marquez in fourth.

Championship leader Maverick Vinales had a difficult session, highsiding over the handlebars with eight minutes gone, but managing to make it back on track to take fifth place.

The British riders ahd another struggling qualifying session, with John McPhee in 20th and Danny Webb one place back in 21st.
