Foggy: Fingers crossed Scott Redding can clinch Moto2 title

One of Scott Redding’s biggest fans believes the rising British star can go onto clinch the 2013 Moto2 world title after his stunning home victory at Silverstone yesterday (Sunday).

The 20-year-old Marc VDS Racing ride thrilled a record crowd at the super fast Northamptonshire venue to claim a third win of the season to extend his title advantage to a commanding 38-points after closest rival Pol Espargaro slumped to a lowly eighth.

Four-times World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty was in a bumper crowd of almost 74,000 fans to witness Redding move a step closer to becoming Britain’s first Grand Prix world champion since Barry Sheene in 1977.

Fogarty is a big Redding fan and on his first visit to a British Grand Prix event in a decade, the Ducati legend told MCN: “It is brilliant for Scott. You could see how pumped up he was because the pressure has been mounting and he would have been thinking about this race for a while now and he was leading the championship.

There are two things he would have been thinking about and that’s wanting to win his home race but he also had the championship to think about as well. I really hope he can win the title but there is a long way to go yet. He has just got to keep finishing races in the top three and it is his. But fingers crossed for him.”
