Marquez takes overall victory in Superprestigio Superfinal

Marc Marquez has taken on the best of the American flat track world and won, beating three times AMA Grand National champion Jared Mees to win the overall class at the reintroduced Spanish dirt track event.

Marquez was left with work to do, as well, after a first lap crash from French supermoto rider Thomas Chareyre left him back in fourth, with Spanish-based American Kenny noyes clearing off in front.

However, Marquez and flat tracker Mees, also delayed by the crash, were able to pick their way through in the twelve lap final, with the MotoGP champion coming out on top by only 0.3 after a last lap scrap.

Noyes was third, ahead of supermoto rider Gerard Bailo, World Endurance racer Dani Ribalta and best of the Brits, 16 year old Oliver Brindley, who was able to hold MotoGP racer Bradley Smith back to seventh.

Reigning champion and pre-race favourite Brad Baker was ruled out of the event after damaging his shoulder in a qualifying crash earlier in the day.
