Dominique Aegerter explains decision to stay in Moto2

Highly rated Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter has explained why he turned his back on a potential MotoGP switch in 2015.

Aegerter, who is currently fourth in the Moto2 standings courtesy of a debut win in Germany and three other podiums this season, was linked with a move to Pramac Ducati and Forward Yamaha for 2015.

But Aegerter will ride a Kalex machine in Moto2 next season after his Technomag squad ditched Suter.

The 23-year-old told MCN: “I was pretty sure in the summer break that I would stay in Moto2, but then Pramac and Forward spoke to me and this opened my thinking a little but I made the right choice to stay in Moto2. I think it is the best option because it is a bit too early to move up.

“With Ducati I was not thinking about the bike because when you look at (Andrea) Iannone he is making a good job. And he can now move into the factory team. It doesn’t look like the easiest bike but they are improving.

“But from my side I want to be more at the front in Moto2 and fight for the championship. The goal next year is to win more races and be in the top three in the championship.”
