What are the odds for Indy?

Ladbrokes has teamed up with Motorcycle News for this weekend’s Indianapolis Grand Prix to offer new customers a matched free bet up to £50! Any new customers can take advantage of the offer in what should be a very exciting weekend of racing.

Indianapolis will be the first race of the second half of the 2015 MotoGP season and in a gripping season this could be one of the most interesting races of the year. Honda’s decision to switch Marc Marquez to a hybrid 2014/2015 machine at Assen has seen his form rejuvenated and while the title could be out of reach for the Spaniard, if he can build on his German victory he could start to increase the pressure on Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo in the standings.

Marquez has never been beaten on American soil in the premier class, and over the last five years he’s been unbeaten at both COTA and Indianapolis in all clases. The odds on favourite for this weekend’s race (Marc Marquez 4/6 with Ladbrokes) his qualifying form at Indy, four poles and a front row over the last five years, also means that he is sure to be in demand in the qualifying markets, even as the odds on favourite at 8/13.

Outside of Marquez the markets are more appealing with Jorge Lorenzo (7/2) and Valentino Rossi (4/1) sure to have plenty of interest. The Yamaha riders have dominated the season and shared seven wins between them. Marquez may have dominated at Indy in the past but this year the Yamaha has consistently been the most complete bike on the grid.

Beyond the top three Dani Pedrosa is sure to offer an appealing wager. Whereas his teammate is the odds on favourite, Pedrosa is available at 9/1. The Repsol Honda rider has had a difficult year as he continues to recover from arm pump surgery but his runner-up spot in Germany showed his recovery is progressing well. As a two time winner and former pole sitter at Indy he will be attractive to add to his haul of four podiums at the track.

Bradley Smith at 4/1 for a top six finish is an interesting option. The Tech3 rider has had six top six finishes this year and his confidence will be high on the back of his Suzuka 8 Hours win. Smith finished sixth last year at Indy.

In the smaller classes Ladbrokes offers odds of 10/1 on Sam Lowes to add to his early season win on US soil. The Speed Up rider has been consistent top five finisher this year with an each way bet covering a podium finish Lowes could offer value in that market. Championship leader, Johann Zarco, is the odds on favourite to claim a fourth win of the year.

In Moto3 there’s little surprise to see Danny Kent (6/4) listed as the favourite and despite not having a US podium to his name the Leopard Honda rider has some form at Indy. A front row start in 2012 and a second row start a year earlier shows he can run strongly at the track. Miguel Oliviera (9/1) is looking for a third win in four races and the KTM rider is riding well at the moment. Last year’s victor Efren Vazquez is available at 11/1.
