Fabio Quartararo stars as Moto3 testing kicks off

Rookie sensation Fabio Quartararo made a stunning start to 2015 today when he topped the timesheets on the opening day of Moto3 action in Valencia.

The Estrella Galicia Honda rider set a fastest time of 1.39.392 to finish just 0.023s clear of British rider Danny Kent, who impressed on only his second appearance on the Honda he will race for Leopard Racing in 2015.

Quartararo’s performance though will raise the most eyebrows. The French teenager is already a double Spanish Moto3 champion aged just 15 and he has been touted as racing’s next big star behind current king, Marc Marquez.

Third fastest was last year’s rookie star Enea Bastianini, with Niccolo Antonelli taking fourth as Honda claimed the top four places in its bid to successfully retain the crown that Alex Marquez won in a thrilling final round decider in Valencia last November.

Red Bull Ajo rider Miguel Oliveira was the quickest KTM on track with a best time of 1.39.805 putting him just over 0.4s off the pace of Quartararo in fifth.

Scot John McPhee, who had an impressive second season in Moto3 last year, was 18th out of the 32 riders on track, with a best lap of 1.40.592.
