Cal Crutchlow: Three-year HRC deal ‘fantastic’ for Jack Miller

Cal Crutchlow reckons Jack Miller’s three-year Honda MotoGP deal is a dream scenario for the teenage Aussie.

Miller has signed an unprecedented three-year deal direct with HRC after Honda took the big gamble to promote him from Moto3 to MotoGP for the forthcoming season.

Miller will ride a production Honda RC213V-RS in Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR squad next season.

British rider Cal Crutchlow will be Miller’s teammate and the former World Supersport champion believes a three-year deal takes the pressure off the 19-year-old to deliver results immediately.

Crutchlow told MCN: “Having a three-year contract is a fantastic deal for him. To say you are riding for Honda for three years and they will place you somewhere, it is a great deal. It means he can take it relatively easy in 2015 and try and learn as much as he can and then start to ramp it up after that.”

And Crutchlow, who has endured a difficult time at Ducati in 2014, said he was impressed with Miller’s performances on the Red Bull KTM in Moto3 last season

Miller won six races and only lost the title by just two-points to Alex Marquez after a tense final round decider in Valencia and Crutchlow added: “We know he has got talent but I think he has got size on his side for MotoGP as well. He is big enough to ride a MotoGP bike but his race craft has been really good. He wasn’t on the best bike at all in 2013 and he was running at the front and when he was on a really good bike he fought for the championship, so it shows he has big talent. And when you watch the other classes you sit there and think he is definitely a guy that is really strong.”
