Dovi primed for Mugello win?

In this weekend’ Motorcycle News you can read about how Ducati may well be the favourites to win next weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. The turn of speed shown by the GP15 has been hugely impressive this year and after finishing on the rostrum at all but one race so far Andrea Dovizioso has to be considered a real favourite for this weekend.

” For us Mugello is very important,” said Dovizioso. “For every Italian rider, but especially for Ducati riders. We made a test that was really important and we were quite fast. Sure we will have a special motivation to go fast in the race, but Le Mans was another confirm, we have to find something to fight for the victory.”

Dovizioso singled out improving tyre degradation as one of those key areas but overall it’s clear that the Ducati is a very competitive bike and that he’ll be in the thick of things throughout the season. When asked if who he felt were his title challengers Valentino Rossi included Dovizioso but the Italian isn’t prepared to think in terms of a title fight at this juncture of the season.

“It’s quite early to speak about the championship,” said Dovizioso. “It’s also true it’s quite difficult to gain a point from Lorenzo and Valentino in the championship. When there are in a bad day, it’s difficult for them to finish out of the podium. About Honda, it’s always difficult to understand in detail the other bikes. Just if you are not on the bike. But in my opinion is the talent of Marc hides some limit from Honda, because he’s the only one able to go fast, also last year, but especially this year. So I believe Honda in this moment doesn’t have a perfect balance.”
