Luthi cruises to French win

Thomas Luthi has cruised to Moto2 victory in Le Mans, taking the win by two seconds from defending champion Tito Rabat. Johann Zarco, an early battler with Luthi, took the final podium spot.

Luthi started from sixth, but after his short fight with Zarco was able to make a break and just hold it long enough to ensure a lead he could hold from to the end.

Rabat, who made a mistake early in the race while battling with Sam Lowes, was able to come back in the end, taking second from Zarco but unable to pull in the Swiss rider in front. Lowes finished fourth at the flag.

Many of the top names of the class finished their races in the gravel, however, with Alex Marquez, Jonas Folger, Mika Kallio and Luis Salom all crashing out. Alex Rins was also a faller in the closing stages, but was able to remount for seventeenth and no points.
