Ominous pace from Lorenzo

1 of 1

Jorge Lorenzo set the fastest time of the weekend to set the pace in the all important FP3 session that sees the top ten riders make it through to QP2 automatically. Lorenzo was just under four tenths of a second faster than Andrea Iannone who was hugely impressive despite dislocating his shoulder earlier in the week. Iannone was able to avail of the softest tyre to set his time but even so he was hugely impressive

Cal Crutchlow was third fastest after setting his fastest time right at the end of the session with Andre Dovizioso and Bradley Smith faster than world champion Marc Marquez. Dani Pedrosa had a commendable return to the shootout of FP3 with the seventh fastest time ahead of Yonny Hernandez and Valentino Rossi.

Pol Espargaro and Maverick Vinales enjoyed a good fight for the final QP2 spot with the Tech3 rider coming out on top. Scott Redding and Eugene Laverty will have to take part in QP1 but with both Suzuki’s in the session it’s going to be difficult for Redding to qualify inside the top 12.
