Pole for Lorenzo in Italy

Jorge Lorenzo claimed his third pole position of the year at Misano after a superb performance from the Spaniard. Lorenzo, who won from pole in both Jerez and Brno, carried an advantage of one tenth of a second from Marc Marquez with Valentino Rossi enjoying a strong qualifying outing to round out the front row.

Dani Pedrosa was fourth fastest with Michele Pirro a hugely impressive fifth fastest for Ducati and the leading rider for the Italian manufacturer with Andrea Iannone, Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci seventh, eighth and ninth fastest respectively.

Bradley Smith was sixth fastest after another strong showing with Cal Crutchlow eleventh fatest after making it through from Q1.
