Rossi teases Mugello helmet

Valentino Rossi has teased his now-signature special edition helmet for this weekend’s home race at Mugello, tweeting a photo of himself deep in thought with designer Aldo Drudi as they consider three of the past special editions.

Rossi’s helmets for his local races have become part of his signature flair, and the photo shows the 2007 heart design, his 2014 ‘pasta’ helmet, and the beautiful chromed helmet he wore in 2015.

All part of the show in front of his home crowd for the race, which is only two hours from his Tavulia home, Rossi also admitted that while he loves racing in front of the sometimes-rabid Italian crowds, the race also brings its own distractions to his weekend.

“I love the racetrack, I love the atmosphere – but the home Grand Prix is always more difficult than the others. There are a lot more things you need to do and a lot more pressure around. But we will arrive in quite good shape, and our bike is very competitive. I need to relax now, and try and arrive there focused.”
