Moto2: Pasini makes it three in a row with Silverstone pole

1 of 1

Mattia Pasini has made it three pole positons in a row in the 2017 Moto2 season by taking control at the British Grand Prix today, setting a time good enough for pole early in the session and seeing his rivals unable to touch it as qualifying progressed.

Remarkably also setting two consecutive laps at the same speed to one thousandth of a second, the Italian ended the day ahead of the Marc VDS duo of Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli, with the teammates 0.2 off Pasini but only 0.02 from each other at the flag.

2018 MotoGP graduate Takaaki Nakagami leads the second row in fourth, ahead of Luca Marini on the Forward Racing machine and Dominique Aegerter on the Kiefer Racing Suter, while Lorenzo Baldassarri, Miguel Oliveira and Thomas Luthi completed the third row.

Tarran Mackenzie was only two seconds off the pole position man despite his 26th place, continuing to make good progress despite being at the longest circuit of the season, while wildcard Jake Dixon will start from 31st.
