1 of 1

Thirteen-time world champion Angel Nieto has been placed in a medically-induced coma after suffering serious head injuries in a quad crash yesterday on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

The 70-year-old was in collision with another vehicle when the crash happened, and was transferred to Polyclinic Our Lady of the Rosary on the island, where he underwent surgery to reduce the pressure on his brain, but remains seriously ill.

The MotoGP paddock has reacted unanimously to wish their best to the 13-time champion after his accident, with a number of riders tweeting their support for him.
