MotoGP: Buy Valentino Rossi’s love letter to his Yamaha

1 of 2

Valentino Rossi’s love letter to his M1 Yamaha, which the team issued as a press release when the nine-time world champion departed the squad to head to Ducati in 2011, is up for auction for an Australian charity.

The letter came from when Yamaha press officer William Favero sent Rossi a draft of the statement as he was getting on a flight. The racer decided that the statement was too impersonal, however, instead writing his own version on the back of the statement – the original version of which Yamaha have donated to charity.

As well as the incredible Rossi letter, the auction also includes a number of other rare items, including riding kit, bike parts and memorabilia donated and signed by a wide range of riders from the Grand Prix paddock.

The auction has been organised in part by members of the MotoGP paddock to help five-year-old Australian Freyja, who needs specialist treatment for a rare form of cancer.
