Andrea Migno has taken his first Moto3 win in front of a jam packed home crowd at the Italian Grand Prix, coming out on top of an incredible race-long battle to take the top spot for the Team Sky VR46 team at Mugello.

Riding in a special Italian livery for the race, he picked his way through the field carefully in a frantic battle that saw nearly half the field spend some time leading the race and was able to take the win from fellow Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio at the flag.

“I don’t know how it feels yet – I can’t feel anything because it’s so unbelievable. I can’t even remember the slowing down lap. We had a tough weekend but we changed something for the warmup, and I was strong in the final section of the race and we won. I don’t know what to say – I’m finished!”

Juanfran Guevara was the final podium finisher, with Darryn Binder taking fourth by a mere 0.,002 from Aron Canet, with pole man John McPhee taking valuable championship points in sixth. Ayumu Sasaki, Marco Ramirez and Nicolo Bulega on the second of Valentino Rossi’s bikes rounded out the top ten.
