Moto3: First win for Bagnaia and Mahindra in Assen

1 of 1

Both Pecco Bagnaia and his Aspar Mahindra team have taken their first victories in the Moto3 class at Assen, after a superb last lap from the Italian gave him the race win over Andrea Migno and Fabio Di Giannantonio in a close-fought fight.

The Moto3 race was its usual tight fight until the very end, with the three Team Sky VR46 riders of Migno, Nicolo Bulega and Romano Fenati sharing the lead with Niccolo Antonelli, Enea Bastianini and Di Giannantonio.

Only championship leader Brad Binder spoiled the Italian party, but a mistake from the South African left him out of contention in twelfth at the flag.

Bagnaia was able to set himself up for a slipstream pass right at the flag, with Migno getting demoted to third after the race thanks to an illegal pass in the final seconds, exceeding track limits.

Brit John McPhee made the best of the struggling Peugeot machine in the dry conditions despite hoping for rain to only just miss out on the points in 16th, with the returning Danny Webb avoiding the carnage to finish last.
