Lowes dominates for Jerez win

1 of 1

Sam Lowes has converted his second Moto2 pole position of the year into his first victory, taking the win in Jerez from Jonas Folger in dominating form.

Leading from the opening stages, when a mistake by the German and a fast lap from Lowes let the Brit through, he then just eked out a gap for the duration of the 26-lap battle, eventually stretching his lead to over three seconds.

Alex Rins was another five seconds back on Folger, to take the final podium position, while a late crash for Lorenzo Baldassarri gave Franco Morbidelli an easy last lap for fourth ahead of world champion Johann Zarco and Thomas Luthi.

Danny Kent was a faller in the early stages, joined by a host of riders, with Corsi, Marquez, Cortese, Schrotter and teammate Olivera all failing to finish.

The win also extends Lowes´ title lead, with the former World Supersport champion now ten points clear of Rins.
