Another strong result on difficult weekend for Aprilia

The Gresini Aprilia squad of Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl have left Le Mans after a difficult weekend with another strong performance, making the most of the chaos in front of them to take a double top ten.

Struggling all weekend with setup issues, Aprilia Racing manager Romano Albesiano admitted after the race that the results almost came as something of a shock to the squad considering the difficulties they faced.

“This was a weekend where we ran into a few difficulties with the setup, a situation that pushed us to try some new things in terms of the chassis and electronics. This is a positive aspect in certain respects, since this is an entirely new project.

“Despite a few problems, we achieved a good result in the race, partly to the credit of our mechanics who repaired the bikes that were damaged during warm up in record time. Our work goes on and we’ll do whatever we can to give Alvaro and Stefan an increasingly higher performance RS-GP”.

Strong results may do the duo no harm in coming weeks, too. With Brit Sam Lowes already set to step up to the team for 2017, it is certain that only one of the pair will retain their seat.
