Isle of Man TT world series ready to launch

1 of 1

Isle of Man TT organisers have crossed the final political hurdle ahead of the launch of their new world series, which looks set to take the TT format across the world from 2017.

The series will see a travelling cohort of 20-30 riders in Superbike, Supersport and Superstock take in up to six races across the globe, both in TT format as well as in mass start racing.

Looking to get underway from 2017, the series will shake things around by running over the winter and culminating at the TT proper in June. The promoter, whose role will be opened to tender soon, will be in place to run the 2016 TT, with test events then planned for the winter of 2016/2017 before the full series launch the following year

Rounds are expected to take place mainly in Southern Hemisphere countries to benefit of their reversed summer, with Australia, South East Asia, South Africa and South America among the early favourites to hold rounds.
