TT 2016: Birchall brothers win second Sidecar race

1 of 1

Ben and Tom Birchall offset the bad luck suffered in Saturday’s first Sidecar race with a dominant victory in the final outing.

The brothers were gutted as engine problems forced them to retire from a 34 second lead in the opening race but they were rewarded for their efforts on Friday as they stormed to a commanding victory ahead of John Holden and Andy Winkle.

It was a close first lap between the Birchalls, fighting with Holden and Winkle plus Molyneux and Sayle but before long the Mansfield pair had put enough in to build a small gap into the second half of the race.

After withdrawing from the opening race, drama struck once again for Molyneux and Sayle as they retired on the second lap, promoting Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance to the final podium spot.
