TT 2016: Hutchinson takes Supersport double

1 of 1

Ian Hutchinson took his third victory of the week in today’s second Supersport race, once again outpacing rival Michael Dunlop to take the spoils and equal Mike Hailwood’s tally of 14 TT victories.

It had looked as though the Bingley Bullet wouldn’t be able to pull the same devastating early lead he had in Monday’s first race, with Dunlop trailing his Yamaha rival by just 0.1 seconds at Ballaugh on the first lap.

However, Hutchinson soon pulled the pin to cross the line with a four second lead before almost doubling this a lap later while Dunlop lost even more time in the pits. By the end of the four laps, Hutchinson had pulled 17.54 seconds on Dunlop to take his second Supersport double in as many years.

Dean Harrison continued his strong TT week to take his third podium of the week in third, ahead of James Hillier and Bruce Anstey.

Lee Johnston took sixth ahead of Conor Cummins on the Padgetts Honda with Peter Hickman, Gary Johnson and Michael Rutter completing the top ten.
