TT 2016: Hutchy becomes fastest rider to lap mountain course

1 of 1

Ian Hutchinson has become the fastest ever rider to lap the Isle of Man TT course with a lap of 132.803mph in this evening’s final practice session.

The Bingley Bullet stormed to the 17 minute 02 seconds lap on his BMW Superstock machine to top the overall times ahead of tomorrow’s first race. While the lap broke both the Superstock and outright records, it won’t be added to the history books as it wasn’t in a race.

Michael Dunlop also lapped in the 132s, his fastest lap a 132.754mph, also over McGuinness’ official outright lap record, was enough to top the Superbike session with Hutchinson clocking a 131.521mph lap to rank second.

The BMW duo are looking to be a formidable force ahead of tomorrow’s opening race with no other rider coming close to their times on Friday evening.

Dean Harrison was the best of the rest in both the Superbike and Superstock classes, with laps 130.00mph and 128.947mph respectively. The Bradford star also topped the Supersport times with a 126.249, ahead of Conor Cummins and John McGuinness.
