“I feel a bit rusty”, were the words uttered by Guy Martin after his first laps on Honda’s 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade SP in superstock spec for the roads.
Of course, he will be, after a brief discussion as to whether the races he did on his turbo-charged Martek in New Zealand count as riding a race bike, we come to the agreement that he hasn’t ridden a race bike in the same sense as his new Fireblade since the Thursday of the 2015 Ulster Grand Prix.
After taking a year out from road racing in 2016, Guy joins TT legend John McGuinness in the iconic Honda Racing squad for this year’s North West 200 and Isle of Man TT. He’ll also race in a number of Irish nationals as well as the Ulster Grand Prix.
Last week, Guy and McGuinness got their first taste of the all-new Fireblade at Honda’s now traditional pre-season test at Monteblanco.
