Rain holds up Bayliss and Xaus

The second day of testing for the factory Ducati team of Troy Bayliss and Ruben Xaus was severely disrupted by rain.

Bayliss and Xaus were only able to do 22 and 24 laps respectively at the Valencia track in Spain and are pinning their hopes on getting more time on track on Thursday.

Bayliss said: ” The rain was not good but at least I have been able to get some more miles under my belt and find out how my shoulder has recovered from the break at Imola.

” Hopefully we should be able to do some more laps tomorrow if the weather is better. ”

Xaus was equally pleased: ” Things have been going well and I know if the weather gets better then I can improve my time even though Valencia is not one of my favourites because I have only been here on the suprbike for one test before. ”

Both riders are hoping to get out tomorrow for more testing of the 2002 Ducati 998R that features a new engine and a claimed 186bhp.

You can read a full report of the testing in MCN, November 21.
