Foggy chooses Italian replacement for Haydon

Young Italian Lorenzo Mauri will replace injured Foggy Petronas rider James Haydon for the World Superbike round at Misano this weekend.

Mauri comes to the team on the recommendation of factory Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi. The 26-year-old is currently competing in the Italian Superstock championship for the GB team, and last year finished 12th in the championship.

” I thought it might help to have an Italian on the bike at Misano, ” said Fogarty. ” A few British names had been mentioned, but nobody who I really wanted. Mauri has got nothing to lose and neither do we, so something just might happen. ”

Regular rider Haydon has been ruled out of action for a minimum of two weeks with a prolapsed disc in his neck, following a crash at Oshersleben in Germany. He’s expected back for the eighth round at Laguna Seca in America on July 13.
