Haga on provisional pole

Noriyuki Haga is on provisional pole for Sunday’s Imola WSB round with championship hopeful James Toseland sixth fastest.

Toseland was third quickest in Friday morning practice. Now he must hope to make up ground in Saturday’s superpole to put himself on Sunday’s front row. Check this site throughout the weekend for updates.

Haga claimed provisional pole on Friday with a time of 1.50.969 – just minutes from the end of Friday afternoon’s first qualifying session. Honda’s Karl Muggeridge is on provisional pole in Supersport.

At lunchtime on Friday it was dry with a temperature of 27 degrees.

Lucio Pedercini took the fastest time in Friday morning’s WSB first practice, on his Ducati 998RS. Laconi was just .096 seconds down on the Italian with Toseland a further .056 behind.

Toseland is three points ahead of Honda-riding Aussie Chris Vermeulen in the championship and just 10 clear of Ducati team-mate Regis Laconi. With just two rounds left there are still 100 points up for grabs. Haga is in fourth – 14 points off the lead.
