WSB testing for Monza

Tha Yamaha, Suzuki and Ducati squads have all completed testing at Monza in Italy to prepare for the next round of the World Superbike championship on May 8, 2005.

The Motor Italia Yamaha sqyad focussed on chassis development, with riders Noriyuki Haga and Andrew Pitt testing a new swingarm, several rear linkages and new suspension parts. They also squeezed in tests of a number of Pirelli development tyres, and durability tests on the R1 engines. Both bikes clocked up over 2000 kilometres without failure.

“It has been a very good test,” said team coordinator Massimo Meregalli. “We have been able to test many things. Andrew has found a good combination with the front brake and suspension that he will use here in the race and Noryuki tired out a new kit swingarm which he tells us improves rear tyre life. This is something else we will look to use in the race.”
