Gobert goes home

1 of 1

Anthony Gobert is back in racing – but he’s had to return to his native Australia to get a ride.

After 12 months out of racing, he will compete in the national superbike class in Oz – starting at this weekend’s WSB round at Phillip Island.

Now 30, Gobert is reported as saying he realises this is his last chance to salvage anything from his career. He’ll ride a Blade for a Melbourne dealer.

Gobert’s racing reputation has been sullied by a failed drug test, weight problems and excessive partying. He was sacked from his last ride – in the AMA superbike championship – last April.

We’ll bring you the latest from WSB practice on Friday with live updates when available.
