Toseland tops Assen

James Toseland has topped the timesheets for the first qualifying session at the Assen World Superbike round.

The reigning champion posted a time of 2:04.742 on his factory Ducati 999F05. He was joined in the two minute, four second laps by Troy Corser, on the Alstare Suzuki, with 2:04.835.

British star Chris Walker finished the session in 13th place, with 2:06.474, while Rizla Suzuki wildcard Jurgen van den Goorbergh finished in 23rd place.

Noriyuki Haga has gone fastest in the first free practice session for the Assen round of the World Superbike championship, demoting Britain’s James Toseland to second quickest in the final moments of the session.

The Japanese Yamaha rider posted a time of 2:06.376 and completed 18 laps during the session. Yamaha team-mate Andrew Pitt also had a good practice, and finished third quickest. British rider Chris Walker went ninth quickest on the Kawasaki
