Biaggi a happy man

Max Biaggi ended his first testing session with Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra a happy man following more than a year away from circuit racing.

The Italian has spent the three days on the GSX-R1000 K6 he will be racing in the World Superbike Championship next year at Vallelunga, near his home town of Rome. The former MotoGP star put in more than 70 laps on the last two days in sweltering conditions.

Biaggi said: “The main part of these days is to begin the process of learning lots of new and different things.

“I have been away from road racing for over a year and that means that my approach at the moment is steady rather than dramatic.”

A new area has been added to the circuit since Biaggi last rode there more than 15 years ago. But the times fell as he got used to the bike, tyres and the track.

Biaggi added: “I like things to be right and I am determined to work as hard as it takes to get the bike as good as it can be. We had a few minor problems during the tests but nothing major and I’m sure that we’ll see further improvements in the next tests.”
